If you’re planning a self-drive tour of Scotland, there are many scenic routes that will take you through
breathtaking landscapes, charming towns and beautiful coastlines.
Moray Firth Route
This 80-mile route takes you from Inverness to Loch Fleet, passing around the Beauly, Cromarty and Dornoch
firths in the north-east Highlands. The drive takes about 1 hour 50 minutes. It is a good choice if you want a relatively
short trip while still enjoying the scenery of northern Scotland.
SnowRoads Scenic Route
Running from Blairgowrie to Grantown, this 90-mile route crosses the eastern part of Cairngorms National Park.
It takes drivers along some of Britain’s highest public roads, which often close first when it snows. Visitors should
allow about three hours for the drive.
Argyll Coastal Route
For mountain scenery and sparkling loch views, try this 129-mile journey from Tarbet to Fort William. The
route follows Scotland’s west coast and can be completed in about 2 hours 55 minutes. It is especially suitable for
travellers who enjoy a mixture of mountains, water and coastal landscapes.
South West Coastal 300
This circular road trip begins and ends in Dumfries and covers 300 miles. Along the way, travellers can enjoy
